Wednesday 23rd July - The Haining Estate

 Wednesday 23rd July

Cloudy but warm

The Haining Estate

This morning I went for a walk round the Haining Estate. I took the car up because I didn’t want to walk up the hill ,and parked in the main car park.

From the car park I could walk through the “hole” in the Lang Dyke

This lang dyke was the boundary between the Haining Estate and the town of Selkirk:

I walked along the path until I got to Haining House - under renovation:

The path took me to the old Mansion the exterior of which now seems to have been fully restored. They are now working on the rooms inside. This “House” overlooks Haining Loch,

which has a pathway all round it that takes about 30 minutes to walk round.

It is a beautiful place!

A local group have created a lot of knitted figures and decorations that have been fixed onto the trees.

... including a monster in the loch

I am not sure that this adds to the natural beauty of the place

  1. Being on your own doesn't interrupt your explorative spirit. Pictures all look very inviting to any hesitant traveler. May the rest of your journeys progress in comfort. Cheers Terence
