Friday 18th July - Ardbeg Distillery & Lobster dinner

 Friday 18th July 

We found the house in the village of Bruilladich:


Failte is the name of the house which means welcome in Gaelic:


The view from the house is beautiful:


That morning we went over to the Ardbeg Distillery just up the coast from Port Ellen where the ferry came in:

We had a great tour round led by a knowledgeable guide:
Stage 1:- The barley is ground up in the mill:



Then it is added to the Wash Tuns in the next room up the stairs:


Once there the yeast is added to the whole mixture - The Wash:


Once this has reached the right stage it travels to the stills where the spirit is created:


When the spirit is ready it is put into the barrels to mature:


After the tour we went to had lunch back home.

In the evening we went to the Lochindaal Restaurant at Port Charlotte 



and shared a lobster platter for dinner:


with Mussels:
